It's fun to watch the horror classic Leprechaun (1993)

If you're looking for a classic horror film, go no further than Leprechaun. All of it from the ridiculous narrative to the over-the-top acting to the cringe-worthy visual effects is a disaster. The picture manages to be interesting and amusing despite all of its flaws. Warwick Davis is fantastic as the leprechaun, and Jennifer Aniston, in her feature debut, performs surprisingly well. Leprechaun is a great film to see if you like cheesy horror flicks. If you go in expecting to be afraid, you could be disappointed.

The depiction of an enraged leprechaun by Warwick Davis has become legendary. In the film, the leprechaun believes a family has stolen his gold pot. He embarks on a quest for them, with all of his cunning and power. In the meanwhile, the family searches anxiously for the gold to appease the leprechaun and prevent him from injuring them. Leprechaun is one of the finest horror flicks of all time because to Davis's terrifying and memorable performance.

Leprechaun movie summary:

Dan O'Grady goes back to North Dakota in 1983 after visiting his homeland of Ireland, where he kidnaps a leprechaun and steals his pot of gold. After hiding the gold, O'Grady learns that the evil leprechaun followed him home and murdered his wife. With the help of a four-leaf clover, O'Grady restrains the leprechaun's powers and locks him up in a box. When he went to burn him, a stroke stopped him in his tracks.

The O'Grady farmhouse is rented by J. D. Redding and his daughter Tory, now a teenager, ten years later. Nathan Murphy, his 10-year-old brother Alex, and their dopey friend Ozzie Jones are working as contract workers to renovate the farmhouse. While exploring the cellar, Ozzie overhears the leprechaun calling for help and mistakes him for a little child. As soon as the old four-leaf clover is freed from the carton, the leprechaun is free to go. The leprechaun tells Ozzie that he's a shoemaker from Ireland who came to America in quest of better opportunities. Ozzie fails to convince the others that he saw a leprechaun, but he does spot a rainbow, which he follows in the hopes of finding a pot of gold at its end. Worried that Ozzie would hurt himself, Alex decides to pursue him. With a wave of his wand, a bag holding one hundred gold coins appears before Ozzie. After Ozzie examines the gold and accidentally swallows a coin, thinking that doing so would cure his brain damage, they bury the loot in a deep, ancient well.

The leprechaun on the farm deceives J. D. into falling into a trap by impersonating a cat and biting and injuring his hand while posing as a feline. After Tory and the others take him to the hospital, the leprechaun rides a tricycle. When Alex and Ozzie drive to a pawn shop to verify the gold's purity, the leprechaun kills the proprietor, Joe, for stealing his gold and polishes Joe's shoes before fleeing. On his way back to the farmhouse, the leprechaun builds himself a go-kart and is caught for speeding by a police officer. The leprechaun chases the police officer into the forest, where he finally murders the officer. The leprechaun returns to the farm and searches for his riches while sparkling each shoe he encounters. The group returns to the farmhouse after delivering J. D. to the hospital. Nathan is injured by a bear trap placed by a leprechaun as he checks the exterior of a plundered structure. The gang tackles the leprechaun with rocks and clubs in the open air.

When they find a gun in the house, the leprechaun is shot many times. They try to leave the property when it doesn't work, but the leprechaun has broken the truck's engine. After crashing the car with the go-kart, the leprechaun scares the group until Ozzie says that he and Alex found the pot of gold. Tory gets the bag out of the (click blog posts) well, and then he gives it to the leprechaun. They go to the hospital because they are sure that the worst is over. As the leprechaun counts his money, he realizes that Ozzie ate his last coin. He threatens them because he thinks they're trying to trick him, but Ozzie tells them that O'Grady had a stroke and was taken to a nursing home. The group gets the leprechaun's attention by throwing dirty shoes at him. The leprechaun has to go shine the shoes while Tory gets in her jeep and drives away. Tory goes to the house to find out how to kill the leprechaun.

The leprechaun disguises himself as O'Grady and visits the elderly people in the home. While Tory is fleeing, the leprechaun follows him into an elevator and throws O'Grady's body down the shaft. The farm's late caretaker, O'Grady, forewarns the young woman that the only way to kill the leprechaun is with a four-leaf clover, of which there happens to be a plentiful patch just outside the farm's gates. Tory returns to the farm in search of a four-leafed clover, but the leprechaun assaults her there, forcing Nathan and Ozzie to come to her rescue. When the leprechaun returns to get the remaining gold coin, he is badly injured by Ozzie, who admits eating it. Before the leprechaun can kill Ozzie, Alex takes a four-leaf clover that Tory found, sticks it to a piece of gum, and launches it into the leprechaun's mouth. The leprechaun's skeleton, after tumbling into the well, emerges and demands, "I want my gold." Nathan uses gasoline to set fire to both items after returning the leprechaun to the well. Tory and her father are reconciled, she marries Nathan, and the two have a child when the police arrive. While authorities investigate the debris of the well, the leprechaun vows he would not rest until he recovers every penny of his fortune.

The film Leprechaun was released in 620 theaters on January 8, 1993, and grossed $2,493,020 in its debut week, eventually grossing $8,556,944 in the United States. In April 1993, Vidmark published it on VHS, and over 100,000 copies were sold.

The next year, Leprechaun 2 came out. In it, the Leprechaun goes to Los Angeles to find a new pot of gold. In Leprechaun 3, which takes place in Las Vegas, the Leprechaun gets his hands on a magical coin that makes his wishes come true. Leprechaun 4: In Space is a bit different from the first three movies because it takes place on a spaceship and has the Leprechaun fighting aliens. In Leprechaun: Back 2 tha Hood, the fifth and final movie in the series, the Leprechaun goes back to his roots in the inner city of Los Angeles. Even though most critics didn't like the Leprechaun movies, the series has been very successful and is still a cult classic.

Leprechaun facts

After the producers insisted on making the movie scarier so it would appeal to older audiences, several scenes had to be reshot.

It is well knowledge that George Lucas had a hand in choosing Warwick Davis for the role of Willow. The reasoning for this, however, is not well recognized. According to reports, Davis was under contract with Lucas and couldn't feature in the film without the director's permission. The leprechaun was intended to flee to Ireland at first. But there was one problem: Warwick Davis, the Irish actor who played the leprechaun, did not have a work visa. Davis needed to secure a visa in three days to shoot the last sequence, which would have been impossible under normal conditions. Fortunately, Vice President Dan Quayle's administration was able to expedite the procedure, allowing Davis to complete shooting on time. Quayle earned a "special thanks" credit at the conclusion of the film for his services.

Warwick Davis was starting to regret making the movie, but many people rented it after Anniston became popular on TV, which led to a long line of sequels. It is said to have been one of Warwick's favorite songs.
